How PlanScout makes and checks its content
The rules every PlanScout page follows, who checks it, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
Where our numbers come from
Public data from CMS, Medicare.gov and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Every figure shows its source, period and retrieval date. Unknown is never shown as zero. The full list of datasets is on How our numbers work.
Who reviews
PlanScout has no employees. Pages are written and reviewed by the PlanScout internal team. When a credentialed specialist — for example a licensed agent, a SHIP-trained counselor, or a nurse — reviews a page, that page shows their name and credential. We only name a specialist who actually reviewed that page; we never use placeholder names or invented credentials.
Every page says who checked it and when. A page that has not had a recorded review says “Not yet reviewed”. Pages with a recorded review today:
- Medicare basics: reviewed by the PlanScout team, Oct 8, 2026
- Medicare coverage guide: reviewed by the PlanScout team, Oct 6, 2026
- Care guide: hospital discharge: reviewed by the PlanScout team, Sep 17, 2026
- Care guide: what medicare pays: reviewed by the PlanScout team, Sep 17, 2026
- Care guide: staying steady walkers: reviewed by the PlanScout team, Sep 17, 2026
- Care guide: preventing pressure sores: reviewed by the PlanScout team, Sep 17, 2026
How results are ordered
By how well a result fits your answers, or by distance. Never by payment — there is no paid placement. Details are on How our numbers work.
How we make money
PlanScout doesn't make money today. If that changes — for example referral or partner fees — we'll disclose it here and in our Terms of Service before it takes effect.
What we won’t do
- No “best” labels.
- No paid rankings or paid placement.
- No pressure to enroll.
- No selling personal information.
Corrections
See something wrong? Use “Suggest an update” on any directory listing or care guide, or contact us. We fix confirmed errors within 2 business days and note the change in the page's change log. We publish a change only when we can verify it — information we can’t verify is not published.
Directory facts come from CMS, and we don’t edit CMS data. A confirmed correction is noted in the change log below, and on the page itself where the page has a “Reviewed & sourced” box.
Use of AI
Dottie and drafting tools are AI-assisted; a person checks every published fact.
