This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixels, measurement tokens) PlanScout uses, and how you control them. You can change your choices any time with the button below; we also honor the browser Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal.
Categories we use
- Essential — strictly necessary to run the site and remember your privacy choices. Always on; no consent required. These do not track you across sites. This includes remembering, in your browser only (local storage
ps_zip), the last ZIP code you entered, so every page can use it without asking again. It is never sent to us unless you search with it. Clear it by clearing this site’s data in your browser. - Analytics — Google Analytics helps us understand which pages are used and how visitors navigate the site so we can improve it. Google Analytics is loaded only with your consent. PlanScout removes query strings from page locations before sending page-view events so ZIP codes, invitation tokens, email addresses, and other URL parameters are not included.
- Marketing / attribution — measures the performance of our own outreach. When enabled, Meta receives PageView image beacons only on /about and /press after a fresh marketing choice. These exclude query strings, referrers, forms, planner inputs and results. Meta can receive ordinary browser network information and existing Meta cookies; browser privacy controls may block these requests. No automatic matching, automatic event detection or server-side Conversions API is used. Loaded only with your consent, and never fired if you have opted out or your browser sends a GPC signal.
- Form & chat records (Kapture) — Keeps a record of what you type into PlanScout forms and chats you choose to send, as proof of your request. Provided by Kapture (operated for us by KX21). Off by default: Kapture loads only when you agree — for a chat with Dottie, when you click “Start chat”; for a form, when you tick the Kapture box shown above its first field; or on optional forms when you turn on this category yourself in Cookie preferences (“Accept all” does not turn it on). Once loaded it records your activity on that page as a session recording and sets its own identifier (kap_vid), which we store with your submission. Passwords, the chat panel, and the story and review text boxes are left out of the recording. For chats it also keeps which version of the chat notice you saw, when it was shown, when you clicked “Start chat”, the topics, and the chat with names, phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers and Medicare numbers removed, sent when the chat ends. Forms marked “required to submit” (suggest an update, caregiver stories, reviews, the agent application and agent profile edits) use the recording to verify who sent them, so they can’t be sent without the tick; you can email [email protected] instead. Choosing “Essential only” or sending Global Privacy Control keeps Kapture off for chats and for this category; ticking a form’s box is a separate, specific yes for that one form (with GPC on, optional boxes are hidden and a required box loads Kapture only after you tick it to send that submission).
- Videos (YouTube) — our care video pages show a picture we host ourselves. Nothing loads from YouTube or Google until you click play. Then the video loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube (Google) may set cookies or use local storage under Google’s privacy policy. Clicking play is your choice to load it.
Your choices
Use the “Cookie preferences” button above (or in the footer) to accept, reject, or fine-tune non-essential categories. Rejecting non-essential categories does not affect your ability to use the free tools. You can also enable GPC in your browser, which we treat as an opt-out of the sale/sharing of your information and of non-essential tracking.
