Find a long-term care hospital
A long-term care hospital is for people who are very sick and need hospital care for weeks. This is often after a stay in intensive care. Search by ZIP to see the closest ones Medicare approves. Nothing here is paid placement.
Long hospital stays
These hospitals care for people too sick for a nursing home who still need hospital care each day. Two examples are coming off a breathing machine and healing a hard wound. Stays here last more than 25 days on average.
Not a nursing home
A nursing home gives daily care and help over a long time. A long-term care hospital gives hospital care, with doctors on hand. The hospital you are in now most often sets up the move.
No overall star rating
Medicare does not give these hospitals an overall star rating. It only compares each one with the national average, one measure at a time. So we list them by distance or A to Z. We never rank them.
