Does Medicare cover a mammogram?

Yes. Part B pays for a screening mammogram once a year.

What will you pay?

With Original Medicare: You pay nothing if your provider accepts the Medicare-approved amount. If the test checks a problem, you pay 20% after the Part B deductible ($283 in 2026).

With a Medicare Advantage plan: Medicare Advantage plans must cover it too, but your costs and rules can differ. Check your plan. Compare plans near you.

What are the rules?

  • You can get one every 12 months.
